Patricia Urquiola
The intimacy of a nest, recreated in starred chef Andreas Caminada’s restaurant.
Interior designer Patricia Urquiola was commissioned to refurbish and furnish the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz restaurant called Igniv with an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
Drawing her inspiration from the restaurant’s name (it means “nest” in the Rhaetian language), the well-known Spanish designer sought to create an intimate and refined locale where diners share the pleasures of multi-starred chef Andreas Caminada’s cuisine and of spending time together.
Retaining the two most iconic elements from the previous restaurant’s stand-out features – its stuccoed, vaulted ceiling and fireplace – Patricia Urquiola opted for warm materials like wood and brass, harmoniously combined with a palette of colors in the hues of bordeaux, burgundy and robin’s-egg blue.
The core element of the refurbishment is a wood-paneled wall: Patricia Urquiola chose parquet from the Biscuit collection, which she herself designed, allowing its soft, rounded forms to fill the room with warmth.
