Three simple shapes, three rectangular trapezoids, three brothers playing together, giving rise to countless unique combinations.

Everything starts with three simple forms, but not with any forms. Three rectangular trapezoids capable to optimize the cutting of a large panel of multilayers, minimizing waste of a precious material like wood.

Slide

Good idea. But it is only the beginning: this which follows is surprising. The three Slide modules look like three brothers with very different characters.
The eldest, the largest and most rational, loves to play alone. He enjoys slipping along the oblique side and his movement fills the space drawing an infinite number of fabrics with regular meshes.

The two younger brothers, however, always play together. Their imagination is unbridled and they have come up with a number that leaves everyone speechless. Starting from any point, they are able to conquer the plan by expanding to infinity, without leaving a single empty space, but above all without repetitions.

Wood is that living natural material that connects the earth with the sky through the trees.

Daniele Lago

Only two shapes, infinite combinations that are always different. Unbelievable? Indeed it seemed an impossible challenge. Until a mathematical genius discovered the solution. Based on the same proportion that the history of architecture has magically written: the golden section. He enchanted Phidias, Vitruvius, Leon Battista Alberti, Leonardo da Vinci, Le Corbusier, Steve Jobs. Today all of us are enchanted.

Two years have elapsed since the first unanticipated encounter of Andrea Margaritelli with Daniele Lago, the same period of time required to develop and engineer a design project which is deeply affecting the way to perceive and live hardwood flooring. Who said that geometry and maths cannot be fun to play with?

Slide is the outcome of Daniele Lago’s creativity combined with the engineered know-how of the product by Andrea Margaritelli who has committed himself, in first person, along this process which started off as a kind of game, a “minor” challenge, and just like a playful amusement took the shape within the Lago Apartment.

The initial concept is a rectangle divided in two by a diagonal line generating tow trapezoidal rectangular shapes that can be combined together in different forms, therefore creating numberless patterns..

The Slide collection features 3 trapezoidal shapes, forms designed with the aim of creating a balanced surface, but always different.

Based upon how the trapeziums are placed, new “interesting” designs will come to life, for instance mixing  module 2 with module 3, a flooring inspired by a periodical figures generating “schizophrenic” random patterns apparently countless , but as a matter of fact just tow combinations.

Boston Consulting Group – Miami @ Stefano Pasqualetti

This wood flooring system takes by storm the scheme of classical wooden boards, looking up at origami technique, to redesign your wood floor living new shapes and perspectives: a rectangle turning and “sliding” into a rhombus according to the magic formula of transcendent  numbers. Then it turns and slides down to compose endless shapes never replicating themselves.

Unusual geometry and trapezoidal shapes whit whose starting to play with and start composing not only the horizontal surface onto which create and invent a personal lifestyle.
